    • Thank you to all our families for helping us have a great first day of school!

Hopefully everyone had a fabulous summer with family and friends. We are excited about another great year here at Culver Community Schools.

We have several new staff members that we would like to welcome to our school family:

Sandra Helfrick-Hendrix - High School Science, Alexander Lute - Spanish, Brandy Zehner - FACS, Sarah Bailey - Kindergarten, Kimberly Kurtzweil Keller, School Psychologist Assistant, Erika James, High Ability Teacher, Paula Krause, Elementary Teacher. We are grateful that such outstanding individuals are becoming part of the Culver Pride.

We are delighted you have chosen Culver Community Schools as the school community for your family. We strive to continue to deliver the best education for your child. Our goal is to make sure that every student who enters our buildings each year has the awesome opportunity to learn and grow and to become the best individual they can be.

We have expanded our Career and Technical Educational offerings beyond Building Trades to include Project Lead the Way Program, Future Farmers of America, and STEM programs for our secondary students. We anticipate these programs to continue to grow in popularity. Thanks to all involved in causing these programs to be a success.

We have also expand our Middle School to include 6th graders. Sixth graders will have more opportunities for accelerated academics, leadership opportunities, and more extracurriculars being located at the middle school. We are looking to adding more programs at the Elementary School in the near future.

During the summer we were able to accomplish some needed improvements to our buildings and grounds: new signs for the middle and high school buildings, new fencing around baseball and football field, new sidewalk around the track area inside the football fence and soon to completed storage building for transportation adjacent to the current building. Inside the Elementary Building many teachers moved classrooms to make better space available for the Boys and Girls Club after school program and to designate grade level areas.

Fall athletics are well underway. Currently we have athletes participating in cross-country, football, soccer, and volleyball. We wish all the athletes and coaches the best. Keep in mind that through athletic competition, students have the opportunity to mature and learn several important life lessons. Good sportsmanship is at the top of that list and is the expectation here at Culver Community Schools.

      Wishing everyone the best,

      Karen Shuman, Superintendent
